How to Find Bartending Jobs Available in Your Area
By Ben Ehinger
Do you want to become a bartender and find bartending jobs available in your area? There are a few things working bartenders do to be able to consistently find the best jobs and keep them.
The first thing you have to remember, unfortunately, is that most bar managers and owners are going to automatically assume that you will steal from them, drink on the job, and sleep with other employees. Yes, that is right, you will already be pegged as a bad employee. You have to prove yourself and that takes time.
The second thing you need in order to find a great bartending job is persistence. You have to be able to go into bars and clubs with the attitude that they need you and will be giving you a job. You have to know that they need you. Don’t be afraid to call everyday for an interview and don’t be afraid to go into the bar or club and ask for an interview on a regular basis or until they give you an interview.
The third thing you need is confidence. You have to be on the border of cocky about your bartending abilities. You have to know that if the bar manager or owner is willing to give you a tryout that you will run circles around their bartenders. This is important because to get good bartending jobs you have to be willing to ask for a tryout.
These are three of my personal tricks that have landed me many bartending jobs. I walk right into the bar, ask for an application, and then let the manager know that there is nothing more important than giving me an interview. I point out all my great qualities and if I don’t get the job, they are almost guaranteed to call me when someone quits or gets fired.
