Search Engine Optimization: Mistakes Small Businesses Make

Are you using search engine optimization to get your online business off the ground?

A recent Wall Street Journal video addressed common mistakes made by small businesses when optimizing their sites.

Problems included:

  • Not thinking about what you want. Are you trying to generate awareness? Create sales leads? Sell a targeted product?

  • Are you identifying your direct competitors as those in your industry, or those targeting the same search terms as you? The latter is the correct approach.

See the full video on their website, here. For even more information, visit the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) website at http://www.sempo.org/home.

    Happy optimizing!

You are correct people targeting the same keywords as you are your direct competitors but they don’t stand a chance if you offer more value than they do or make an offer that your customers can’t refuse.
